Made a lot of progress in class today. I’m trying to break bad habits that I have formed. By the way, have I mentioned that the food today was great?
Archives For iPhone & iPod Touch
Today’s video is a compilation of the 2 day trip. I drove down a day early to hang out with some friends and work on a super-secret project (for now). Fair warning: I wasn’t following one of my own rules and the camera is moving around a lot. If you have vertigo issues, it may freak you out a little. I’ll try to do better this week.
Also, I’m doing all the filming with a Flip MinoHD. This is the first real set of videos I’ve shot with this camera. It’s a very cool camera, but takes some getting used to.
I’m also doing all the editing with iMovie ’08. I’m used to used Sony Vegas on the PC, but I’m trying to be totally Mac on this trip. We’ll see how it goes. The render to FLV looks a little weird as compared to the other day. That day, I used the FlipShare software to do the edit. I might switch back to that on day 1.

Here are a few thoughts on getting ready to attend the iPhone Bootcamp next week in Atlanta.
At the end of the month, I’m driving down to Atlanta to attend the iPhone Bootcamp put on by Big Nerd Ranch. I recently had an application that I worked on for a client accepted in the App Store. I learned a lot through the process, but I am really looking forward to a week-long intensive course on the iPhone to help shore up my skills. I am going to try my best to document what I learn on a day-by-day basis to:
- Help me remember what I did
- Give you an insight on the teaching process of BNR
One great thing about living close to ATL is that I can drive down and enjoy some breaks along the way: Krystal, Fry’s Electronics and seeing a bunch of friends that we still have in the Atlanta area.
I’m also looking forward to going heads down and brushing up on some development skills. It’s been a number of years since I have taken an honest-to-goodness sit-in-the-seat-all-day training course. It could be interesting, but being out in the middle-of-nowhere Georgia (not much different than the middle-of-nowhere North Carolina) should help in staying extremely focused.
Be sure to check back the week of 2/23 for the updates.
Apple released Mac OS 10.5.5 on Monday. Lots of security updates. If you are running a Mac, you need to update. Now.
The update for the iPod Touch was available on Tuesday, along with iTunes 8. I promptly updated my Mac to the latest and greatest (sorry, PC, you get to wait a few days) then updated my Touch. I see the version is 2.1 (5F137), so that’s nice. I’m digging around for cut and paste…hmmm…nowhere to be found. Sigh…
Here’s hoping something else shows up Friday, but I’m not holding my breath.
For those of us with iPhones and iPod Touches, today’s announcement from Apple’s music related event at Yerba Buena today about the next version of OS X being released Friday is nothing but good news. Again, no exact listing of what is in 2.1 except that it’s a big update and it fixes a lot of bugs.
Will it have cut and paste? I sure hope so…
